Teaching / research assistants and doctoral candidates are members of the non-professorial academic staff who are employed at UZH for the purpose of gaining an academic qualification with the aim of obtaining a doctorate. They work on their dissertation during this time.

Junior academic positions at UZH include the positions of senior teaching and research assistants, postdocs, teaching and research assistants, and doctoral candidates. The positions of teaching and research assistants and doctoral candidates contribute to the scientific qualification with the aim of obtaining a doctorate.
